Monographs aim at offering a scientific and documented analysis
of relevant phenomena involving Middle Eastern countries
and sub-regions, combining recent international literature
with each author’s personal field experience. Authors
are experts coming from the public sector and intergovernmental
organizations, university and industrial sectors. Monographs
planned for the next two semesters will cover the following
geographic and thematic areas:
1. LIBYA: general process of transformation
of Libyan politics, economy and society; the end of sanctions,
the growing U.S. presence and the future role of the traditional
E.U. partners; Libya as a North African and Mediterranean
player in the next decade.
2. IRAN: evolution of its internal political
processes; foreign perception of its threat; evolution of
its relations with the U.S. and the E.U., Iran, and East
Asian countries.
3. IRAQ: the Shiite community of Iraq after
the general elections; state-of-the-art and future of the
Iraqi oil industry.
4. MEK: the mysterious and dangerous case
of the Mojahedden e-Khalq; from Islamic-Marxism to the cult
of personality; the political and the military structure
in the U.S., Europe and Iraq.
5. HORN OF AFRICA: changes and continuity
in Ethiopian and Eritrean politics; the case of Sudan and
the Darfur crisis; the never-ending odyssey of Somalia;
the Somali structure of power and alternatives to stability.
6. SAUDI ARABIA: analysis of the structure
of power and the chain of command; energy resources between
peak's risks and the need for foreign investments; the failure
of the economic diversification process and the growth of
marginalization; traditional and radical Islam on the verge.
7. CENTRAL ASIAN ENERGY ROUTES: ten years
after the "new great game" an analysis of the
state of oil and gas exploration, production and transport
in Central Asian countries.
